Exquisite Fragility

I’m not usually one to blow my own trumpet, but I was really thrilled to discover that this image of Cat has been awarded ‘Cover of the Day’ by the Gallery of Refined Art, New York!
As well as this, it was featured on their Instagram and Facebook pages that features selected award-winning images by some of the most respected Fine Art Photographers in the world.
Cat came to the studio recently for a styled photoshoot with me where she wore a variety of designer gowns from Katharina Hakaj Couture. These hand-crafted tulle gowns are incredibly sumptuous and are usually curated by photographers who specialise in maternity shoots, however, I love them for all kinds of styles and have even used them as a floor covering when shooting from above! But most of all, they photograph so well and this particular gown had the softness and fragility that matched Cat and of course, the lighting set up to accentuate the feeling of the image that I wanted to capture. I’m all about emotion, messaging and connection and knew as soon as I saw this image in the back of the camera that it was pretty special.
On the same day, I also had a notification that ‘Exquisite Fragility’ had been approved by Archangel that was founded in 2004 with the aim of supplying images to international book publishers for covers, record labels, advertising & design agencies and magazine publishers! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that our image will be used on some gorgeously magical and mysterious novel by a famous author! Now that really would be the cherry on the top of the cake!
